The Department of Environment and Conservation’s primary role is to protect and conserve the environment, on behalf of the people of Papua New Guinea. However, we don't do this alone. We are part of a broad conservation and environmental protection community made up of other government authorities, national bodies, sponsors, schools, community groups, volunteers and individuals. Protection and conservation of the environment is a collective role and, put simply, we could not fulfill our role without the input of these groups and the awareness, understanding and involvement of the wider community.
