OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY

The office of the Secretary(OoS)is responsible for providing effective support to the Minister in delivering on the Government's policy priorities, coordinating administration of the Department and ensuring compliance with relevant laws. The Oos is also responsible for implementing a new Organisation to manage environment regulatory functions.

• Planning and Information Technology Systems and Processes.

Corporate Services is also responsible for strengthenening public administration systems and process across the Department and ensure all staff have the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.

POLICY COORDINATION AND EVALUATION

The Policy Coordination and Evaluation area is responsible for strengthenening the Government's Environment SUstainability policies and to improve monitoring and reporting on the health of PNG's environment.

ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION

The Environment Protection area is responsible for improving the regulation and management of major development projects to reduce the risk of environmental damage.

SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMS

The Sustainable Environment Programs area is responsible for demonstrating how Government policies can deliver environmentally sustainable development and how it can be achieved on the ground working in partnership with key stakeholders.
